Request for Accommodation
The app allows people with mobility challenges to request specific accommodations easily. With this feature, users can ask for specialized help like evacuation chairs or temporary ramps tailored to their needs and for a designated duration.
Map/ Accessibility
The app enables users to assess the accessibility of every building on campus. The following criteria were used to evaluate the accessibility of each building:
Step-free access (Ramps)
Wide entryways
Wheelchair-accessible bathrooms
Accessible fire emergency warnings
Suitable handrails (for lifts and ramps)
Physical alerts for approaching stairs
The app displays the accessible features of each building, including:
Accessible entrance doors with ramps
Automatic door openers
Accessible Men's/Women's restrooms
Accessible water fountains
Emergency evacuation chairs
Evacuation assistance areas
Accessible wayfinding
Disability-friendly offices
Disability-friendly gyms
Accessible parking spaces
If a room is not accessible and a user reports it, an error is flagged. This feature helps improve accessibility within interior spaces of the U of A campus by identifying areas that need enhancement and pinpointing any missing links.
